EGGS OF HOPE, NIGERIA
Problem Statement
Nigeria faces a multi-faceted crisis impacting both farmers and vulnerable communities. Escalating input costs and the absence of a structured market have plunged farmers into economic hardship. Concurrently, communities grapple with increased poverty, leading to food insecurity and child malnutrition. The soaring price of eggs has rendered them a luxury, further exacerbating nutritional deficiencies.
Solution
EGGS OF HOPE aims to address these challenges through an innovative crowdfunding platform. Well-meaning individuals can donate eggs virtually (N200 per egg), directly benefiting farmers within our network. These eggs will then be distributed to vulnerable communities and schools, fostering hope and improving nutrition.
Objectives
- Empower Farmers: Create a reliable market for farmers, enabling them to sell their produce at fair prices, thereby boosting their income.
- Combat Malnutrition: Provide essential nutrition to children and families in vulnerable communities, reducing malnutrition and improving health outcomes.
- Promote Hope: Inspire a sense of optimism and contribute to the nation's renewed hope agenda.
Project Target
- Local Egg Sourcing: Secure 300,000,000 egg donations from well-meaning individuals, organizations, NGOs, etc through our crowd-funding website and buy these eggs directly from local farmers within a 3-year period. This will significantly boost the income of farmers and stimulate the local economy.
- Vulnerable Children Reached: Distribute these eggs to reach 3,000,000 vulnerable children across Nigeria within the same 3-year timeframe. This will address malnutrition, improve health outcomes, and contribute to the nation's human capital development.
This ambitious target translates to an average of:
- 100,000,000 eggs sourced and distributed per year.
- 1,000,000 vulnerable children reached annually.
- Approximately 33 eggs per child per year.
